2008 Alliance High School graduate Kayla Friesen, daughter of Greg and Terri Friesen of Alliance, finished second in the pole vault at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Champions Friday.

Friesen vaulted 12 feet, seven-and-one-half inches to claim the silver medal. The champion also vaulted the same height, but had one less miss than Friesen.

Friesen, a sophomore at the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Fall, SD, won the Nebraska Class B state champion pole vault in 2008, vaulting 10 feet, 10 inches.

Friday's vault tied a personal best for Friesen.

With Kayla's second place finish at nationals, she is honored as a two-time NAIA indoor track and field All-American.

The championship was held at East Tennessee State in Johnson City, TN
