Teams are needed for a Memorial Day softball tournament will be held in Alliance in memory of an Alliance boy who died in an auto accident two years ago.
Nic Gasseling was a freshman at Alliance High School when the vehicle he was riding in rolled over on a county road north of Alliance on May 23, 2006. Nic died at the scene.
The Nic Gasseling Memorial Softball Tournament organizers are in need of coed teams. Organizers state this is a youth softball tournament. Upcoming freshman through this year's high school graduates are needed. The registration fee is $15 per person, which includes a tournament t-shirt.
The tournament will be held at the Hal Murray Softball Complex on Monday, May 26.
All proceeds to the Nic Gasseling Memorial Scholarship fund.
Teams need to be made up on an equal number of boys and girls, with up to 12 persons on a team. It is open to all students from 8th graders who will be entering high school this fall, to seniors who graduate this month.
Registrations are available from Mr. Watt at the high school or by calling 762-6702, or 762-1867. Registrations are due by this Friday, May 9.
