Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) Practice Administrator and Service Excellence Council Chairman for the hospital reports three of the six Pinnacle Award winners at BBGH were chosen to receive the Summit Award, the highest honor given by Custom Learning Systems. Mr. Alwin said the 2011 Summit Award Achievers were selected from Pinnacle Award winners from across the country. The Summit Awards were presented at the HealthCare Service Excellence Conference (HCSEC) held January 16-18, 2012, in Dallas, TX.

BBGH Finance Department Payroll employee Kitty McKee of Hemingford was presented the 2011 Service Excellence Advisor Summit Award. BBGH Marketing Department Graphics/Communications Specialist Brian Kuhn, also of Hemingford, received the 2011 Exceptional Employee Summit Award. Receiving the 2011 Medical Clinic of Choice Summit Award was The Rehab and Wellness Center at BBGH.

Other BBGH Pinnacle Award winners nominated for Summit Awards were: Greater Nebraska Medical & Surgical Services (GNMSS) nurse coordinator Karen McLaughlin for Exceptional Nurse; the hospital's Service Excellence Initiative OASIS Pain Busters team; and GNMSS Hemingford Clinic for Medical Clinic of Choice. It should be noted that BBGH had two of the three Pinnacle Medical Clinics of Choice winners nominated for that category's Summit Award.

BBGH was also one of five hospitals receiving several Service Breakthrough Awards in Patient Experience (HCAHPS) and in Patient Satisfaction.

Mr. Alwin commented, "We were up for Summit Awards in five categories and we brought home three out of those five, more than any other healthcare organization at the Conference. We did exceptionally well, which indicates to me that we have phenomenal people doing a great job here at BBGH. This tells us that we are using the skills the Custom Learning System has provided for us and that the Service Excellence Initiative we have started here has been very successful."
