BOX BUTTE COUNTY ELECTION DAY PROVING TO BE SLOW

It is a slow day in Box Butte Country for election workers.

As of 11:30 this morning, only 250 people in Alliance had cast ballots.

Alliance residents are casting ballots at the Burkholder Education Center while eastern and southern rural Box Butte County residents are voting at the courthouse.

Northern and western county residents as well as those residing in Hemingford are casting their ballots at the St. Bridget Parish Center in Hemingford.

The polls will be open until 7 p.m.

The main interest in the primary election is the race for United States Senate as six people are vying to replace Senator Chuck Hagel.

There were not enough people who filed to run for Alliance School Board, Hemingford School Board, Alliance City Council or Box Butte County Commissioner so all candidates advance to the November 4 general election.

Since there are no Box Butte County races, we will not provide any election coverage tonight on KCOW.   We will be airing the Nebraska vs. Creighton baseball game and then join the Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game in progress.

We will provide regional and state election results on Double Q Country, 97.5 FM and 105.9 FM at 8:05 pm, 9:05 pm and 10:05 pm.
