The 53rd Annual Cancer Benefit Card Party sponsored by the Eagles Auxiliary will be held Tuesday, November 13, doors open at 6 pm and cards start at 7 pm at the Eagles Club in Alliance. The event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the door for 50 cents each.

The admission ticket includes pie, coffee and a chance to win numerous door prizes donated by our local merchants. Bridge, pinochle and pitch will be played. There will be raffles, home made candy and a country store.

Persons wishing to make reservations may call Doris Hamilton at 762-4920.

All proceeds from the card party will be used to fund cancer research and aid local cancer victims.

This was started in 1954 by Edith Stark who was president of the auxiliary at that time. It was a fund raiser for a local cancer victim. Edith died of lung cancer in March of 1974.

Money raised by the card party is sent to the Eagles to be given back in grants for cancer research or for purchases of equipment for cancer treatments in a given hospital. Any aerie or auxiliary can apply for one of the grants. A portion is kept in a local cancer fund to be given to local cancer patients in $125.00 grants. None of the money is used for administration.

Further information may be obtained by calling Doris Hamilton at 762-4920.
