For the fifth year in a row, enrollment in the Hemingford Public Schools (District 10) has grown, now at 400 students in grades Pre-School - 12th grade. Hemingford experienced lower numbers each year from 2001-2005, but has rebounded in spite of declining population in the Panhandle.

2010 marks the first time in ten years that District 10 enrollment has reached 400 students. Five years ago, only the junior and senior classes in the Hemingford school system had 30 or more students. In 2010, there are six classes with 30 or more students.

Supt. of Schools Casper Ningen says Hemingford has experienced an increase in option enrollment students from other school districts.

Ningen believes the five-year growth is a reflection on how parents feel about the school, and how Hemingford school students are learning and achieving

The largest class is the Third Grade class, with 38 students. The smallest is the pre-school class with 22 children. This year's Hemingford High senior class has 25 students.
