James Edward Mracek was born on March 11, 1922 at the home place to Frank and Marie (Duhon) Mracek. Jim grew up and lived east of the 16 mile corner all of his life. Jim eloped in Valentine with Mildred Serbousek on June 10, 1943. They enjoyed 66 years of wedded bliss together. To this union was born seven children. Jim loved the farm life and farmed and ranched until he was no longer able to continue.
Jim loved to fly airplanes. He received his pilot's license in 1955. He was President of the Flying Farmers from 1963-1964. He had his own plane until his health forced him to give it up. He was also on the Board of Directors for Coop in Hay Springs.
Other things that Jim enjoyed during his life were traveling. Mildred and Jim visited every state in the United States but three and also went on a cruise. When they were at home they liked to drive around in their pick-up and check out the crops and the cattle. On weekends, they liked to attend open houses for anniversaries and birthdays. He also loved riding the motorcycle when he was younger. As he grew on in years, Jim enjoyed sitting in his shop and watching the birds and the cat he named Crooked Tail.

12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Son Charles Mracek, Parents Frank and Marie, Brother T-bone Mracek, Daughter-in-law Toni Mracek and Grandson Cory Mracek.
Services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates- Gould Funeral Home in Alliance, NE. Burial will follow at the Hemingford Cemetery.
