Rosie Wacker, 84, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Village in Alliance Nebraska.
Rosie was born in Bayard, Nebraska on January 24, 1926 to Adam and Amelia Haas. She graduated from Bayard High School in 1942 and upon graduation worked at the Minatare First National Bank for six years. She married Leo Wacker of Minatare, NE on February 17, 1946 in the Free Evangelical Peace Church at Minatare where Rosie sang in the choir, at weddings and funerals. They farmed several years at Minatare, NE, at Sheep Creek north of Henry, NE and in 1953 began farming in Alliance, NE. In 1975 they purchased the farm where they have since resided. Rosie helped Leo on the farm and was a great cook and homemaker. She worked as secretary for Alliance Public Schools and later was a legal secretary for several attorneys. Rosie was very active as a leader in 4-H for many years.
Rosie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leo Wacker of Alliance, NE; daughter Coni (Ron) Sagehorn of Omaha, NE; grandson Brent (Nellie) Sagehorn of Omaha, NE, (great-grandson Brady Sagehorn) and granddaughter Allison Sagehorn of Coconut Grove, FL; Son Jeff (Nancy) Wacker of Plano, Texas, granddaughter Jennifer (David) Armstrong of Richardson, TX, (great-grandchildren Jeffrey, Samantha and Elisabeth) and granddaughter Angie (Mike) Walker of Plano, TX (great-grandson Connor); Son Tim Wacker of Alliance, NE and grandsons Nicholas and Brandon Wacker of Fort Collins, CO; one brother John (Ermadean) Haas of Mitchell, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Amelia Haas, six brothers, Alec, Adam, Herman and Carl of Glendive Montana, Jacob of Sacramento, CA and Henry of Scottsbluff, NE, 2 sisters, Molly Kimmel of Lincoln, NE and Esther Rein of Scottsbluff, NE.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alliance with Rev. Dr. Charles Kathurima officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rosie's name may be sent to Prairie Haven Hospice, 2409 Box Butte Avenue, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301, or the United Methodist Church of Alliance.
