The Alliance Girl's basketball team saw their winning streak end at 47 games Saturday afternoon, as South Sioux City defeated Alliance 53-48 in the Class B State Championship game.
South Sioux led by as many as 15 points in the second half, only to see Alliance storm back and tie the game 48-48. However, the Cardinals hit some crucial free throws and made a big steal in the final seconds to secure the victory.
Alliance finishes the season with a record of 25 wins and one loss. The past two years Alliance won 48 games and lost two.
Saturday's loss was the first suffered by the Bulldogs since December 1, 2006.
