A 47-game winning streak dating back to December 1, 2006.

An impressive 25-0 season record.

A victory over a Lincoln school in their own backyard.

What more could you ask for?

For Alliance girl's basketball coach Nate Lanik, a victory over South Sioux City Saturday afternoon probably comes to mind.   The Bulldogs and Cardinals will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Devaney Center.   The game will be broadcast live on KCOW radio and on the internet at www.kcowradio.com.  A statewide television audience will also be viewing on NET-1 (Channel 13 in Alliance).

Alliance earned its second consecutive trip to the championship game -- and third in nine years -- with a 39-29 victory over Lincoln Piux X Friday afternoon at the Devaney Center.    To make the game interesting the Bulldogs failed to score a second quarter point, yet still claimed a 10-point victory.

Pius (17-4) will meet Elkhorn (21-3) in the third place game at 11:30 a.m. (CST) at Pershing Auditorium.

Alliance led the Thunderbolts 10-7 at the end of the first, trailed by five at halftime, 15-10, still trailed by three at the end of the third, 24-21, and then outscored Piux 18-5 in the fourth to claim the ten point victory.

Jordan Hooper led Alliance with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  All of Hooper's scoring occurred in the second half.  Lindsey Briggs chipped in 12 points.

The Bulldogs out rebounded Piux 27-22, but also committed 18 turnovers.

South City Sioux enters Saturday's championship game with a 23 and one record.   The tradition rich Cardinals, who won state championships in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, as well as a runner-up  trophy in 1999, sport an all-time state tournament record of 36 wins and four losses.

South Sioux City beat Alliance 65-36 in the 2000 championship game.
