The Alliance Bulldogs defeated the Omaha Skutt Skyhawks, 70-59, in the third place game at the Class B Girls' State Basketball Tournament Saturday morning.
The game was played at Lincoln High School.
With the win, Alliance finishes the 2009-2010 season with a record of 20 wins and five losses.
The Bulldogs' Jordan Hooper finished the game with 47 points, hitting 12 two-point shots, four three-point shots and 11 free throws. She set at least three scoring records, including:
Most points in a Class B state tournament game (47). The previous record was 38 set by Jennifer Charlston of Lincoln Pius X in 1989;
Most points in a Class B state tournament (100). The previous record was 92 by Laura Anderson of Raymond Central in 1984.
Most field goals in a Class B state tournament game (16). The previous record was 15 set by Shelly Block of Gothenburg in 1983, and Laura Anderson of Raymond Central in 1984.
Hooper's four-year state tournament (12 games) scoring total is 271 points, finishing second behind Darcy Stracke of Stuart/Chambers, who scored 366 during the 1993-1996 tournaments.
The UNL basketball recruit also finishes her four-year Alliance High career with 2,078 points, which is fifth in all-time scoring in the history of Nebraska High School Girls' Basketball.
Hooper also finishes her AHS career with several rebound records. That information will be provided to KCOW Radio when the team returns from Lincoln.
Alliance led, 23-13, at the end of the first quarter; 32-26 at halftime; 52-45 after three periods, and outscored Skutt 18-14 in the fourth quarter.
