The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will hold a Boating Safety course at the Alliance YMCA, 1202 East 10th on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.
The Nebraska Boating Safety course is required of all power boat operators under the age of 18, which includes operators of personal watercraft and all other motorboats. However, boaters of all age are welcome and encouraged to attend the class.
The boating education class covers everything from equipment requirements to safe boat operation and accident prevention, and is a great course for both new and experienced boaters. A minimum of six students are required and registration is required by calling (308) 762-2201.
Boat owners who complete the class may qualify for insurance discounts.
Parents are encouraged to attend with their children and boaters of all ages are welcome. There is a $10 fee for this course and participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Students will be required to attend both sessions.
